We are planning to be in Japan for 14 nights. We are flying into osaka and out of tokyo. We want to visit Osaka, Okayama, Hiroshima, Shodo Island, Kyoto, Hakone and Tokyo. Could you suggest an itinerary and what type of rail pass to get?

I recommend the following itinerary:
Kyoto - Osaka - Shodoshima - Okayama - Hiroshima - Hakone - Tokyo
And to use a 7-day Japan Rail Pass from the day you leave Osaka until the day you arrive in Tokyo.
