Budget airlines operating in Japan 2008/2/11 02:21
Hi, I'm going to be working in Tokyo soon and it would be a great opportunity to explore both Japan and the surrounding countries.

In UK, we have several budget, no-frills airlines, like easyjet or ryanair.

Are there similar budget airlines in Japan? If there are, can you let me know if there are websites I can book through? It would be nice to be able to go away for a long weekend without having to pay over the top fees.

Thanks
Rob

Yes, they are introduced and linked from the following page:

Note that even the regular airlines JAL and ANA can have very competitive rates, especially if you book 28 days or longer in advance or use an air pass for foreign visitors.

Currently yhe only discount airline with English website is Skymark.
