So I will be going to study abroad for one year at Tokyo International University in Kawagoe. I was just wondering if anyone was familiar with that area, and whats its like. Is it a big city, or a suburban area. Also, how far is it from Tokyo...preferably Shinjuku. I've never been to Japan...let alone overseas. If you could give me some pointers that would be much appreciated. arigato gozaimasu!

Jbalsamo,
Although it's classed as a largish city, you should think of it more as a large town in the outer suburbs of Tokyo. It is served by three railway lines (JR, Tobu, Seibu), which all take you into central Tokyo, but the Tobu Tojo Line is the most direct, taking 30 minutes to Ikebukuro. There are a few minor sightseeing attractions there, but you'll probably want to spend more time in Tokyo. You can look up more information about the city on Wikipedia and via the city's official website.
