Tohoku Honsen -Tokyo to Utsunomiya

I'd like to go from Tokyo to Utsunomiya and then back again on the Tohoku Honsen. Do I need to pre-reserve seats or can I arrive to the station the day of and get tickets?


Also, does anyone know when the last Tohoku Honsen train (or any train for that matter) from Utsunomiya runs to Tokyo?

These are just regular suburban trains, so you cannot reserve seats.
If you use the Tohoku Shinkansen, you can reserve seats, but it is not necessary.

The last Utsunomiya Line train from Utsunomiya is the 22:20, ariving at Ueno at 00:01. If you use the Shinkansen, the last train back departs at 22:53, arriving in Tokyo at 23:44.
