Cherry Blossom Place & Time in 2008 2008/2/15 11:27
I am planning to visit Japan free & easy, from 21 Mar to 29 Mar. May I know, during that period, what are the best places to visit for cherry blossom viewing please.

By free and easy you mean "not part of a tour", right? The expression is not really used outside Singapore.

Every year is different, but it is possible that you will be too early to see much in the way of blossoms on mainland Japan. At the end of your stay you might see some in the Tokyo area, which is often the first place to see blossoms.

It's unlikely you will see the trees in full bloom though.

I'm not sure about cherry blossoms in Okinawa- maybe someone else can help there.

Check the following page:

Somewhat accurate forecasts will be published from around early March.
