Are there any places to stay in japan for 2-3 (preferably 3, but 2 will do) people for under $80? I would like to find a hotel (western style) but anything will do for now. Thank you!

Some business hotels (no-frills, really the basics only) in Tokyo, such as Toyoko Inn, come at a bit over 8,000 yen per room (two people occupying the room - at times it could be just one double bed). Youth hostels come at 3,000 yen per bed or so, so you won't be that much better off than that, I'd say.

Most Toyoko inns handle one, some have doubles and twins for 2. None I've seen are equipped for three.

If you're on a budget, try one of the Sakura Hotels:
