Japan Trip Itinerary

My mother and I are going to Japan this year. I've never been there before, and she hasn't been there for 50 years. We would like some advice on our proposed itinerary, below. What should we change? Many thanks for your help!

May 8: Arrive Narita. Train to Lake Kawaguchi. Relax and enjoy scenery.
５月８日：　　成田に着きます。　河口湖に列車で行きます。　くつろいで、景色を楽しみます。

May 10: Train to Takayama. Explore historic district.
５月１０日：　高山に行きます。　三町筋を探検します。

May 11: Train to Kanazawa. View Kenrokuen Garden, Nagamachi district.
５月１１日：　金沢に行きます。　兼六園を見て、長町に訪ねます。

May 12: Train to Kyoto, stay 4 nights. We have reservations on May 14 at Katsura Villa. May 15 is the Aoi Matsura festival.
５月１２日：　京都に行きます。　四泊します。　１４日に桂離宮に蘭�してあります。　１５日に青い祭らがあります。

May 16: Train to Nara. Visit temples and shrines.
５月１６日：　奈良に行きます。　寺と神社を訪ねます。

May 17: Train to Himeji. See Himeji Castle. Train to Hiroshima.
５月１７日：　姫路に行きます。　姫路城を見ます。　広島に行きます。

May 18: Visit Peace Memorial. Ferry to Miyajima Island.
５月１８日：　広島平和記念資料館を訪ねます。　宮島にフェリーで行きます。

May 20: To Tokyo for 5 nights. Day trips to Nikko and Kamakura.
５月２０日：　東京に行きます。　五泊します。　日光と鎌倉に日の旅行します。

May 25: Leave from Narita.
５月２５日：　成田から発ちます。

I think that time in Takayama and Kanazawa is not sufficient, unless you like a really fast travel pace.
