I am looking to make to order a traditional kimono cloth. I understand the good ones takes a year to weave. I am willing to go personally to Japan to choose and discuss the design and to order it. Can you recommend me a high quality traditional weaver?

Department stores sell kimono fabric by the metres. The fabric cost from several hundred to several thousands dollars per metre so having it custom weaved would be very expensive.

please check: http://www.japantravelinfo.com/trade/pdf/textiles.pdfor type JNTO textiles of japan. in Kyoto there is the nishijin textile centre that demonstrates textile weaving for kimonos and obis. they might be able to help you. I saw once in Kobe a wedding kimono in a dark silver grey fabric that, in the last 2-3 ft by the bottom hem was "puckered" and embroidered with a few beads and silver threads at random. It was spectacular! cost: $ 20000.
