Mt. Koya + Photography

Hello,
I am thinking about staying overnight via a shukubo (Temple lodging) at Mt. Koya.
My question: is heavy photography allowed? I am a photography enthusiast and would like to take many pictures of the monk lifestyle. I understand the religious aspect of the morning prayer rituals, but I would also like to capture this with my camera.
Does anybody have any experience? Is photography shunned upon?
I have seen many pictures of Mt. Koya and the shrines/temples/graves; however, I've seen minimal amounts of pictures of actual monks and the monk lifestyle.
Thank you in advance!
