I want to divorce my husband but I am not sure about the laws. I really want to ask someone about my position. Are any of you lawyers? Or do you know any lawyer here in Japan who I can ask? I would be so grateful. I am quite afraid. I just want to explain my situation to a lawyer and listen to advice. Can I email someone?

Genevie, Depending on where you live, your local city office might even offer legal counseling, or at least guidance, in English, so I would recommend checking there. Never used them myself, but another resource is Tokyo English Lifeline. http://www.telljp.com/Hope it works out OK.
