internet connection problems

Since arriving in Japan, I have not been able to connect to the internet with my laptop. It says I am connected to the local area and that I have an internet connection, but it won't let me on. I can not get any sites to load

Are you using a static ip address? If you do, either switch it to automatic or configure your router to accept the static ip. That was my problem.
