would want to try a ride on shinkansen. what do you advise?
long haul trips in my itinerary :
1)tokyo to hakone
2)hakone to kyoto
my present plan is to ride on shinkansen to hakone from tokyo.
then from hakone to travel slower on an overnight bus or normal train to kyoto. or is it better to ride the shinkansen also?
would appreciate any advise.

You can't get to Hakone directly via Shinkansen. The nearest Shinkansen stop is Odawara, and from there it's on the Odakyu line. Ditto for continuing on to Kyoto.
