Takayama or Nagano ?

We're going to Japan from 26th April to 7th May. We've already planned and booked for Kyoto, Nara and Koyasan.Then, Tokyo and Nikko.
Friends recommended us to visit Nagano but I'm not really fond of visiting former olympics places. I've heard Takayama is also a nice place to go. What do you think ?

Takayama is a out-of-way small town but accessible by Hilda express. Fr Nagoya abt 2 1/2hrs. Beautiful, quiet and old in its own rural way. And the Hilda open-air museum is just 20mins walk from station. BTW there's a matsuri in 14/15apr. Floats parade.
