Which kanji for "mushroom" correct? 2008/3/29 04:43
Hello. I am travellint to Japan, and since I have a mushroom allergy I asked my Japanese teacher to write a note in kanji which says "I am allergic to mushrooms".

Now I am not sure the note she wrote is correct. Couls someone please confirm which of the following is correct way to say "I have a mushroom allergy":
1) 茸のあれるぎーが ある
2) キノコのアレルギーが ある
3) 木野子のアレルギーが ある

No 1 is the kanji I found at online kanji dictionary. No 2 is what my small dictionary book says. No 3 is the note my teacher wrote. Which would be correct? I would be really thankful for help!

1) and 2) are correct. 2) which is in kana will be safer, since not all people read kanji correctly. 3) is not wrong but uncommon, and therefore often difficult to understand.

Note that a lot of Japanese broth contain dried mushroom stock.

Take care and bon appetite!
