How do you order takoyaki? 2008/4/7 12:58
Hi, maybe someone can help me... my language skills are not that great and I haven't had to speak Japanese in years, so my meager vocabulary is pretty rusty.

How do you order takoyaki from a typical street stall? In the past I have been lucky enough to have someone with me to order... this time it looks like I will be the one ordering!

I don't really like bonito... that is "bonito nashi de" right?

If you go to a stall, you can just say "hitotsu kudasai" (One (pack) please) to buy a pack :)

If you don't want the bonito flakes, you could say "Katsuo-bushi nashi de."

The staff *might* ask you something like: "Katsuo-bushi wo kakete mo ii desu ka?" (Can I sprinkle some bonito flakes on it?) or "Nori wo kakete mo ii desu ka?" (Can I sprinkle some dried seaweed on it?). You can say "Iie, irimasen." (No, I don't need it.)
