Oppurtunities for US lawyers? 2008/4/12 05:47
My wife and I will be relocating to Japan with my company. She is a practicing lawyer at a large law firm in Tennessee. She has great credentials (Vanderbilt and Georgetown grad) but no experience in international law and/or Japanese law. We also do not speak Japanese.

Is there demand for US trained lawyers in Japan right now in Tokyo and/or Yokohama (that don't speak Japanese)? Are there any good ideas as to how she might start searching for a job in Japan (we will move in October)?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much in advance.

She will need to look up US law firms that have offices/branches in Tokyo/Yokohama and inquire directly... I don't know what area of law she is in, but there are US law firms that retain both American and Japanese lawyers and help corporations with, for example, accounting or patent issues.
