There is a small youth hostel in Kamakura, near Hase, which is the station closest to the Big Buddha.
Kamakura is mainly a day trip destination and thus there aren't many hotels there. There are countless vacation homes owned by wealthy Tokyo residents, but merely a handful of hotels, which are usually quite fully booked on weekends for weddings.
Do you need a fancy place or just a simple, functional room?
