Fingerprint laws and felony record

I plan to visit Japan later this year to see my wife's parents. I have a felony on my record and am currently on probation. Will I have a problem entering Japan for a short visit? Has anyone here faced this since the new law went into effect?

Since you are serving your probation, you are not a wanted criminal. Therefore it is unlikely that you are on Interpol's wanted list. Also, most countries in the world do not share biometric information of their citizens with other countries(unless on wanted or Interpol list).I don't think you will have a problem entering Japan unless you have committed a crime in Japan. However, while the above is generally true in most ccountries, I cannot speak for the practice in Japan.
