Going from Narita to Tokyo 2008/5/13 10:28
Hallo,
My family (2 kids) are going to Tokyo next week. This is the first trip to Japan for us. Could someone give us advise the best way to go from Narita to Tokyo?
We are going to bring 4 big luggage with us. I heard that Taxi form Narita to Tokyo is very expensive. Thank you!

It depends where in Tokyo you are heading. Here is a basic introduction of your choices:

We are going to Shinjuku. So I am thinking to take train or bus (which one is better?) from Narita to Shinjuku, and get a taxi to find the address.
Thank you for your reply Uji.

We are going to Shinjuku. So I am thinking to take train or bus (which one is better?) from Narita to Shinjuku, and get a taxi to find the address.

Whether to take the limousine bus or the train ( Narita Express) depends on what you prioritize, a possible chance of convenience of direct bus service to your hotel, though it may work out expensive, or choose the Narita Express train with the 'Suica and NEX' combo. It's up to you.

Limousine bus timetable to the hotels in Shinjuku:

Suica and NEX package:

Hope this helps.

Narita to Shinjuku 2008/5/22 19:27
I highly recommend that you take the limousinebus. (orange busses) After a long flight you will be so glad you havent have to carry your luggage around overcrowded trains and stations.

When you exit the arrival-area you simply cant miss the orange ticketcounter, and the busses waits just outside.

These busses go to all major hotels in the Shinjuku-area.
(Keio Plaza, Hyatt, Hilton & Shinjuku Prince, etc.)

Have a nice trip!

convenience or expense? 2008/5/22 20:39
In spite that taxi is not a normal option, 4 types of trains and bus to several destination are available. And the more convenience you wish, the more you have to pay. Please check Uji's link.

Other airport transfer bus service? 2008/5/23 01:17
on a somewhat related note, may i know if there are other airport transfer bus service besides the limousine bus that goes to downtown tokyo?

my father-in-law says there are other bus companies running services that go to shiodome/conrad hotel every other hour. the limousine bus has a very lousy schedule for that area.

can someone kindly verify? and if possible, provide links to these companies.

thanks in advance!

This Narita airport link gives you lots of transportation options from (and to) Narita, including lists of bus companies, and also a quick-search option where you enter your departure time and destination they give a list of transit options near that time.
