How long is is the train trip to Sapporo from Narita airport and how long by train from Takayama to Nagasaki?
Can I book these trips from Australia?

The train trip is about 9.5 hours not including the time between transfers. I used the JR pass all the way here so I didn't pay anything extra. I enjoyed the scenery, but it was an exhausting trip to do in one day.
You can't reserve seats on trains until you are in Japan.
