Is my 4-day Hokkaido itinerary feasible? 2008/5/19 16:35
Day1:tokyo to sapporo
-by rail
-spend the night at sapporo

Day2:Asahikawa( Daisetsuzan)
-full day
•Daisetsuzan National Park )
•Lake Daisetsu (visit by bicycle)
•Sounkyo Gorge
-overnight stay

Day3:Head to Biei in morning
-afternoon head back to sapporo
-spend the night there

Day4:head to to Noboribetsu early in the morning
-proceed to Jigokudai
-after which to Lake Toya
-proceed to Hakodate and spend the night there(Mt hakodate night view)

Day5:morning at hakodate then back to tokyo


this is only part of our 19 day itinerary in japan and we are currently having difficulties in planning out the itinerary for the Hokkaido phase. Also we cant seem to find any cheap accomodation there. Pls assist if possible.Thanks!!

Certainly the getting to and from the places you will stay each night is possible. As for the places you want to go on days 2 and 4, I can't say as I have not visited those locations.

As for accomodation, it depends what you mean by cheap. I would suggest you check out Tokoyo Inn for Sapporo, Asahikawa and Hakodate, 9,240 for twin or double. I believe these are the best locations for your trip:

erm..the price is reasonable but a bit over our budget, are there any other alternatives available with price range around 4000yen?

Your itinerary is possible, but very packed. Not much time to see the sights of the location along the way. On the other hand, you will spend hours in the train and on buses. The train trip from Tokyo to Sapporo takes a full day. You could save almost a full day by flying from Tokyo to Asahikawa Airport near Biei.

ya i understand about the rail train timing coz i bought the rail pass. however, wad are the main attractions to be seen at each place?
i hope that by knowing the main attractions i can save time by not goin to the less attractive sites on each location
