Japanese shoe removal etiquette 2008/5/25 01:59
I recently visited a Japanese friend in her home and removed my shoes as requested, but wasn't wearing any socks. I walked around her home bare-footed and now realise that this may have been offensive to her. She is too gracious to say anything to me, could some body please tell me if my suspicions are correct? It's normal to walk bare-footed inside someone else's home. It would have been better with socks or nylon stockings, but still bare feet aren't outragious. Especially if it was just a young friend living there, it's completely an everyday thing.
