Should I climb Mt Fuji in late September

I am planning trip to Japan in Sept (late)with my 17 yr old son. Have always wanted to climb Mt Fuji. Will there be any huts open? Will it be safe? We are both quite fit. Would really appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Depends on your hiking experience and preparation. If you prepare properly, bring the right equipment and know how to deal with the weather and transportation to the 5th Station, it should safe.
