Hello, I am going to Japan in the summer for 9 days, during which I will be making trips from:
Tokyo - Kyoto Kyoto - Koyasan Koyasan - Kanazawa Kanazawa - Tokyo
Would it be a better deal for me to get the JR Pass? I am very confused to which trains I can use the JR Pass for. For the above itinerary, how much more would I have to pay if I get the 7 day JR Pass?
Thank you!

Tokyo - Kyoto: About 13,000 yen by JR trains: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2363.htmlKyoto - Koyasan Accessed by non-JR trains from Osaka. You would save only a few hundred yen for the section between Kyoto and Osaka: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e4904.htmlKoyasan - KanazawaAgain, Koyasa-Osaka is by non-JR trains. But from there you would save around 7500 yen for the JR train trip between Osaka and Kanazawa. Kanazawa - TokyoThe fastest way is partially using JR trains. A slightly slower method would use JR trains entirely and save you around 13,000 yen: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e4208.htmlIf you add it up, you get a total of around 35,000 yen. So, if you complete the major trips within 7 days, a 7-day Japan Rail Pass will pay off. You could also consider a 14-day pass for 45,100 yen and also use it on the Narita Airport trains. It would be more expensive than regular tickets, but add some comfort.
