Snow for kids in late April ? 2008/6/9 21:09
Where can we find Snow playground for kids (3 and 6 years old) during late April ? I would appreciate it if you could provide a specific name of ski resort around Tokyo or Sapporo ? Many Thanks !

Most places close around the end of April, however there will still be a few places open. The most accessible from Tokyo will probably be Kagura Ski Resort in Yuzawa, Niigata. They typically stay open through May. They don't really have a snow playground, however you can take the gondola up the mountain, walk and play in the snow, and they do have a small area where kids can ride inner tubes down a slope.

Here's the link to their site:

If you are flexible on your dates and a snow playground is really important for your itinerary the I'd suggest moving your trip up a few weeks and going to Karuizawa:

It's about an hour from Tokyo, and has excellent kids facilities. I took my 4 yr old niece there this year and she loved it.

There's also a good outlet mall next door with some good shopping for the adults.

Here's more info on Karuizawa:
