10 must see spots in Japan! 2008/6/11 01:31
Hello!

I'm planning a trip to Japan for next year (spring 2009) and that'll be my 3rd time in Japan. My friends are coming with me and because they have not seen so much Japan, I would want to show them the most important sightseeing spots in Japan.
We are going to travel at least in Tokyo and Kyoto. We have 2 weeks to spare.
So - any suggestions?
(Links please!)

Thank you!

2 years ago I took a friend who had not been to Japan for over 20 years. We only visited (parts of)the Kansai and she loved every minute of it. We didn't try to see "the best of" as we know, from travelling frequently around the world, that "best" is very subjective. we also know that trying to see too many places dilute the pleasure of getting to know a place well enough to remember it years later. Think about your own country! chances are that you haven't seen, and will never see, most of it yet you know the spirit and soul of your country. We stayed in Osaka and travelled daily to Kyoto, Nara, Kobe etc. Staying in one hotel allowed us to get to know the neighbourhood and to be welcomed after a couple of days by the staff of our breakfast place.

Eri,

While I agree with Monkey See's never fail response how the best is subjective and you shouldn't try to pack too much in, I'm gonna go ahead and make the assumption that you're looking for recommendations so that you can do further research and choose the best ones for your situation.

My question for you is what did you see on your previous trips that you enjoyed the best and would want to share with your friends? That's what I try to show friends when they come out to Japan.

Other than that, some of my favorite places from my travels in Japan include:
