You can take the Yamanote line to Tokyo or Shimbashi to catch a Tokaido Shinkansen for Mishima Station, transfer to the Tokaido Honsen line for Fuji Station, transfer to the Minobu Sen line for JR Fujinomiya Station and catch a bus for Asagiri-kogen, where all of the above are located. The buses run between Kawaguchi-ko/Fuji-Yoshida on the north and Fujinomiya on the south along route 139.

The Fuji Kyuko Bus Company also has buses out of Shin-Fuji station that run up to Asagiri-kogen.

You can use www.hyperdia.com and type in ''Ikebukuro'' and ''Fujinomiya'' to choose the best connections. It takes about 3 hours +.

Many grateful thanks. I'm still worried about what bus to take, as I don't read or speak Japanese. Will it be difficult?

Ask at Fujinomiya Info Center 2008/6/19 14:55
I'm sure someone at the Fujinomiya info center will be able to guide you to the right bus. There's a lot of Fuji climbers that pass through this station so I expect many need to know which bus to take where.

If you want to get an idea of schedules, you can look at the Fujikyu Bus schedule at
http://www.fujikyu.co.jp/bus2/jikokuhyo/jikoku02.htm

It's in Japanese but if you scroll down to the table, the single column with "0825" in it is at Fuji Station. The next column to the right is ShinFuji Station, then Fujinomiya Station, which has a "0835" in the top column time slot. 2 columns to the right of this is Makaino Farm with 0900 at the top. You can try a page translation to figure it out also.
