Cable TV 2008/6/19 04:42
I'm moving to Nara Japan in a few weeks and I was wondering if anyone knew approximately how much basic cable costs there monthly. Also, whether or not there is much english on television (is there a BBC world type channel?)

I used to have a JCN cable TV and I didn't like it so much. Now I have Sky-Perfect TV satelite channel and I think they're great because they have more channels to choose from (many international channels) and lots of PPVs.

My relative in Kyoto has cable television (not exactly Nara) and as for channels, there were plenty to choose from, especially English channels. For me personally, it was great to have BBC World, a channel showing Fox broadcasts from the US, etc.

As for prices, I checked recently for that area and it was a somewhat reasonable 4500 or so yen per month. What put me off though was a ridiculous 10000 yen+ initiation/installation charge.

Of course, my info may be outdated for anybody, please feel more than free to correct this information!
