I have tried all sorts of Google and other searches and got very little result for Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto. Can any other collectors of stamps, N gauge ril or fire engine models help please ?

Andrew, For N gauge model rail stuff, there are loads of shops in Tokyo. Tam Tam and Asobitcity 2 in Akihabara are good, as is Sakuraya Hobby Store in Shinjuku. If you are interested, you may wish to join the JRForum group on Yahoo Groups, which is home to a store directory of places in Tokyo. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/JRForum/
