Inexpensive side-trip(s) from Nagoya 2008/7/7 07:08
Hi!
I was wondering where to go to a weekend trip off Okazaki or Nagoya. I don't want to spend too much money (I guess mostly on expensive transportation...) and I don't mind either 2 one-day trips or 1 weekend trip.
Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Kiso Valley, Gujo, Gero, Shirakawago, Takayama, Kyoto, Ise, Iga to name just a few possibilities:

Inuyama is also a nice day out, and easy to get to from Nagoya on the Meitetsu line.

Well, for example Kyouto, Takayama or Shirakawa-go surely might be nice sidetrips, but would be pretty expensive due to transportation cost... I really meant something inexpensive. ;) I will check out others and Inuyama.

Uji: By Iga you mean Iga Ueno?

If you take the bus rather than the express train, a side trip to Kyoto costs 5000 yen:

To Takayama 6000 yen:

Yes. 3600 yen for a access by bus (round trip):

Thank you. I think I'll cover these big cities later but I'll look at Iga Ueno and Inuyama.
I think I'll go to Ise for one day and one of these cities in another... Are they worth a full day? And which would you prefer if you've been there? (Inuyama X Iga).

I'd vote for Inuyama; lots of things to see and do there.
