hi im traveling to tokyo soon i live in america and i plan on bringing my laptop and a few other electronics will i need some sort of power converter to use my laptop in tokyo?

All laptop cables, these days, come with a built in converter that should cover all the voltages of the world.
Check yours (lable on the black box in the power cable) whether the voltage range covers Japan's 100V.

I just returned from Japan and had no trouble without a currency converter, I just needed the plug converter as I have Australian power points, which are different.
I run an ASUS Eee PC. Not sure if it matters but hey.
