gift for husbands distant relatives 2008/7/20 01:13
My husband has distant relatives (met once) that we will be seeing in Morioka. I am torn as what to take them and do I take every one something. They do no speak English and we do not speak Japanese. Really scared to offend.

For such occasions, speciality food/sweets from your country or region come across as a nice gesture, not too heavy to carry (for you), if you bring a box or two people can share (if you are meeting the relatives together on one occasion, for instance), and food being consumable people don't get "stuck" with it unlike some room decoration and stuff like that.
