Some Japanese Films to watch?

I will be going to Japan in a month and I was wondering about suggestions of some good Japanese films to check out. Also, if I am a film lover what are some good things I should check out in Tokyo?

Let's see.... there are so many
Obviously anything by Akira Kurosawa. His last film 'Dreams' is especially beautiful.
The late Juzo Itami is a favorite director of mine. 'Tampopo' and 'The Funeral' are good.
'Bright Future' is interesting. hope this helps
Oh, almost forgot. 'The Hidden Blade'by Yoji Yamada is good, I watched it on DVD recently
