What passes to buy in Kyoto 2008/9/3 00:36
I will be visiting places like Kiyomizudera, Nishiki Market, Arashiyama in a day. Which pass should I buy? Kyoto City Bus One Day Pass, Kyoto sightseeing Card, JR West Pass?

If you are starting your day from somewhere near Shijo-dori, then you may walk to Nishiki market in the morning. Then catch a bus to Kiyomizu-dera(220yen). Then return to Shijo-dori/Kawaramachi-dori on the bus(220yen) to catch Hankyu rail to Arashiyama(220yen). Then return to Kawaramachi on Hankyu(220yen) all for 880 yen. The Kyoto City One Day Bus Pass is good if you ride more than 3 times on a local city bus. The best pass to buy will depend on where you start and end your day from. It may even be better not to buy any pass at all if you don't use them enough.

passes for Kyoto 2008/9/9 04:40
The JR West pass only makes sense if you travel a lot OUTSIDE Kyoto. check http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2361_03.html
