kanji names 2008/9/3 13:32
Hello everyone,

While I do know some kanji, I've realized I can't read kanji names at all--I only know actual words. None of my current learning resources really cover this. Anyone know of a good learning resource (website, book even, whatever) to get me up to speed on this topic? If it matters, I'm mostly interested in figuring out the pronunciation based on known kanji rather than trying to derive the kanji for a given pronunciation, but I'm not opposed to learning both.

I think one has to learn hiragana first. There's nothing in kangi that tells one how to say it, that I know of. As, Chinese & Japanese may have the same kangi but a completely different sound & word for it.
