Passport for Japanese citizen in US 2008/9/10 01:07
My mother holds a green card here in the US, married to an American citizen for over 50 years. She kept her Japanese citizenship. It has been 20 years since she last went home. What will she need to do to renew her Japanese passport?

M Kubota,

She will need to contact the nearest Japanese embassy or consulate in the US.

She needs to get a copy of her koseki touhon. Other than that, she should already have everything she needs (green card, old passport, picture, money). But like Dave said, she should contact the consulate for the official answer.
