What about if you want to say, take care (safety reasons)?

If you are saying to a friend who is going on a trip, you might say:
- Ki wo tsukete. (Be careful/take care.)
- Ki wo tsukete itte kite. (Be careful/take care on your way and come back safe.)

a question 2008/9/24 10:05
what about saying take care even if the person is not sick or is not going on a trip? just take care like after having a conversation or something like that... thanks

To me.zyne.me,

- Genki de ne. (Stay well/Take care... when saying bye to a friend that you don't see the next day.)
- Jaa mata ne. (See you again.... when saying bye to a friend that you will see soon again.)

To Tess,

This "...ne" at the end of the phrase is used often in informal speech, so "Ki (w)o tsukete ne" and "Ki (w)o tsukete" are about the same.
