what items from USA would the japanese people (tour guides) appreciate.

I actually find it hard to get something "American" for my Japanese family. They requested me a few boxes of chocolate last time. If you can find something from your local candy store, that's would be great. A cap/key chain from your local professional baseball/basketball/football team can be neat, too.
It is very thoughtful of you to give something to a tour guide. My guess is that she/he is not expecting to receive anything from tourists. So, ANYTHING will be super.
