Can someone please explain how to say in Japanese gI watched a film (or TV programme) called efilm titlefh? This is yet another of the kind of phrases that are quite eeveryday usagef but never feature in any textbooks. Thanks.

Polite speech: - [Title] to iu eiga wo mimashita. (I watched a movie called [title].) - [Title] to iu namae no eiga wo mimashita. (I watched a movie with the name [title].)
Informal speech: - [Title] tte iu eiga wo mita yo. (I watched a movie called [title.]) - [Title] tte iu eiga wo mi ni itta yo. (I went to (theater to) watch a movie called [title].)

"... to iu" in this case precisely means "called as..." or "named as..."
"iu" is the verb meaning "to say." And combined with "...to," which is used to mark a quote or a name, it means "called..."
"...tte" is a colloquial version of it.
