i think it is a nice vase. unfortunately i have no idea whether it is japanese or not.
my japanese girlfriend can't make out the writing but pointed out that the trees look like "matsu' which is common in japanese paintings but japanese style would be to paint them more short and squat - a lower tree with wider branches.
so this amateur says not japanese
