Route : Shizuoka to Mito (Ibaraki) by car

Hi all.
I'm looking for the best and cheapest route from Shizuoka to Mito in Ibaraki by car.
I've used the Tomei then through Tokyo onto the Joban before. I have plenty of time to get there this time so was looking an alternative. If anyone knows a good route or could direct me to a link that would be great. Oh yeah..I don't have a car Navi BTW.

You are really challenging to drive a car around Kantou-area.
Shizuoka is Toumei and Mito is Jyouban, you have to route through Syuto-kousoku to change to Jyouban from Toumei.
The expressway costs about $70.
By the way,I cannot get there without GPS.
