hotel bankyu ryokan 2008/9/30 01:14
Hi,

We are thinking of staying at bankyu ryokan, but we're wondering how to get there from Tokyo. Will one day be enough? Do we get to Nikko, then take a bus or train to the ryokan? What route do we take and what is the timing like?

Thanks much =)

Take a train to Kinugawa Onsen (near Nikko) and then a bus to Yunishigawa Onsen. A free pass could be a good way of visiting the area:

Thanks! The info is helpful =). we're staying a week in tokyo so we thought taking a day out to the ryokan ... but seeing that its 4 hrs there and back maybe one night at the ryokan might be too short =p

If you just want to see Yunishikawa Onsen, then one day is enough, although two would be nice.

But note that are many attractions around nearby Kinugawa Onsen and, of course, around Nikko, which is also nearby. If you intend to also see attractions in these regions, a second night (and a more convenient base for the second night) would be recommended. If you want to see everything in the greater Nikko region, including all the theme parks, all the national parks and all temples and shrines, then you need even more nights.
