interest bank accounts 2008/9/30 07:01
Does anyone know of a bank that your yen will earn money on? Like we have in USA?

Interest rates are very low here 2008/9/30 10:29
All banks have interest-bearing accounts, the problem is that the interest rates are usually less than 1%, so after tax you get small change as interest, unless you have very large sums of money to invest.

You are better off sending your money to an account back in the US if you want to earn interest, or you could open a Shinsei Bank account and put your money into a foreign currency deposit. That way you may earn some interest but you risk losing out on the exchange rates, especially now that world financial markets are so volatile.
