Accomodation help Kyoto and Takayama 2008/9/30 19:44
As majority of the hotels for Kyoto are booked out in November,do you think I should use Shin Osaka or Umeda/Shinsabashi as a base to travel to Kyoto?

Also having problems finding inexpensive accomodation in Takayama? Around $110 for 2 people will be good.

I tried to book Rickshaw inn but the room I wanted is booked out.

Depending on when in November, Rakuten still showed openings at some cheaper hotels.

These people might be able to help you:

I sent them an e-mail a couple of years ago when I was looking for accommodation during one of the festivals. I had left it too late, and had to stay in Furukawa, but they answered my e-mail, in English, in a very helpful manner - well, as helpful as they could be.

I had been looking into Takayama and found these hotels, not sure of availability but it's worth taking a look.

.....
you'll usually find a room in Toyoko Inns - there's 3 in Kyoto and they are fine and include a breakfast for less than Y9000 for a twin. www.toyoko-inn.com Use the search above here for inputs.
In Takayama try Minshuku Iwatakan Y9600 twin room www.iwatakan.com/english/eindex.htm
