Early Skiing 2008?

Hi all,
Am going to be in Japan the first week of November, and hoping to get a bit of snowboarding in. I know that in most places, the season doesn't start until Dec, but then I read on the snow japan website that some resorts can open from late Oct for early skiing. Unfortunately, the site didn't provide any more details, but I would assume these are Tohoku and Hokkaido resorts. Does anyone know anything more about early skiing? Thanks.

There's a place in Saitama that has fake snow all year round for skiing. I think it's called Sayama or something.
