Kiso/kamikochi

My boyfriend and I will be travelling from Kyoto back to Tokyo and would like to spend some days in the mountains, taking in a hiking trail between the kiso valley towns, a trip to Kamikochi and some time in either Matsumoto or Takayama. Can anyone suggest which way round to do it? ie Nagoya-kiso-matsumoto-kamikochi-tokyo or vice versa. We have approx 5 days for this. Any travel or hotel tips would be greatly appreciated! Thank you !!

For the most efficient route, I recommend: Kyoto - Nagoya - Kiso Valley - Takayama - Kamikochi - Matsumoto - Tokyo
Note that Kamikochi is not accessible in winter (closed after November 15).
