Life in Kamakura/Zushi?

I'm moving to Japan shortly and considering living along the beach areas between Yokohama and Yokosuka. I like beaches and kayaking, but I'm also single and wonder if I'll have any kind of a social life in a place like Kamakura, Zushi, Hayama, etc...The other option is living in Yokohama and having a longer commute. I'm studying Japanese hard, but it's still broken at this point.
Side question: Do I need anything other than a plug end to use South Korean appliances (220V) in Japan?
Thanks

For the electricity- yes, you do. Japan is 100V, so you will need a transformer as well.

As for the area, Kamakura and Zushi are not particularly remote or rural areas- the Kamakura station area in particular is quite busy, and there are plenty of non-Japanese resident in those areas as well.
Something to keep in mind is that those areas are considered very desirable so rents can be quite pricey.
