4 Day Flexible Japan Rail Passes

Does anyone know if I can get to Kyoto from Tokyo using the JR East or West and the 4 day Flexible Rail Pass? I'm going to Kyoto, Osaka and then back to Tokyo. Would it be better to get the 4 day flexible or the regular Japan Rail Pass?

No, you can't. The shinkansen between Osaka and Tokyo is operated by JR Central, and they do not have a flexible pass. The full Japan Rail Pass will be necessary.
