Hi, I live in Shin-Yokohama and I can point you to a few places that are cheap and good. I eat out nearly every breakfast lunch and dinner because my cooking is so bad. I don't really know the names of streets just landmarks. If you go to Starbucks in town ( not the station ) there are a few cheap good resturants there. The Relief is upstairs and looks like there are several round object on the roof. They speak some english and have good curry for around 500 for lunch. In that same building, on the ground floor, is a Gyudon resturan ( big red sign) 400-900yen.
The best advice I can tell you is learn to point at the picture on the menu and say "Kore O Kudasai". That means give me this one please.
Startbuck in town is across the big avenue from Prince Hotel and to the left.

The hotel itself is attached to a mall called Pepe which has a basement shopping floor including a supermarket and food stalls, some just to go, and some with seats. Enjoy some photos. http://www.prince-pepe.com/rest/rest.htmlPlus, the neighboring station building has just been re-built into a 10 story mall called Cubic Plaza with cafes and food stalls. Click each floor on the "Floor Guide" and then scroll down to click the names of the cafes and stores for more photos. For example, on the 2nd floor there is Doughnut Plant from New York. http://www.cubicplaza.com/floorguide/floor.php?v_floor=1001Cubic Plaza also has a Yoshinoya gyudon branch on the 1st floor, where the price of a meal doesn't get higher than 700 yen. http://www.yoshinoya.com/shop/menu/index.html#menu-list01There are also many convenience stores nearby where you can buy reasonable ready-made food to go. I wouldn't waste time eating at the hotel. Most cheap places in the area have photos on the menu, so I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard for you to order.
