schedule, any suggestion? 2008/11/26 13:54
next february I plan to go to Japan for Yuki Matsuri, but I'm still confused how to make my schedule (that fit my 14days JRP of course)
I plan to go to Japan on feb 19 (arrive on feb 20 - noon), stay a day in Tokyo and go to Hokkaido the next day. then stay in Hokkaido for 3days.
Other than that, I really want to stay in Osaka/Kyoto for 2-3days. And visit sendai, hiroshima, fukuoka. or any other cool places to visit.

I'm not able to make my schedule perfectly as I dont understand how long or how far from one place to another. So any suggestion will be very helpful m(__)m

First of all you need to read the section called A-Z at the very top of this site. It tells you a lot about Japan, from sightseeing to transportation, food etc. Secondly for distances between town and length of a trip-by train-betwen 2 towns, check www.hyperdia.com be sure to read the help page before checking the schedule as there are things to do to ensure you get the correct answers. Buying a guidebook about Japan is also a good idea.. Finally check older posts about Hokkaido, Tokyo, Osaka etc. there must be good thousands of itineraries on this site. This will give you some ideas to plan your own.

The snow festival ends on February 11, 2009.

Apart from that, here is a recommended, effective travel route:

Tokyo - (shinkansen, 2 hours) - Sendai - (air, 1 hour) - Sapporo - (air, 2 hours) - Fukuoka - (train, 1 hour) - Hiroshima - (train 1 hour) - Osaka - (train, 30 minutes) - Kyoto - leave Japan through Osaka's Kansai Airport

Travel times above are approximate. You can find more exact data in the sightseeing guide:

And on timetable websites:

For the flights, I recommend to use air passes:
